a2 A Journey of Strength and Healing: Sara’s Battle Against Stage 3A Colon Cancer and the Power of Community Support.

Dear friends, family, and community of our sweet Sara, known lovingly as Screamieweemie,

We come together today not only to share news but also to rally around one of the most extraordinary people we know—Sara Sremac. As many of you know, Sara is a creative, resilient, and deeply compassionate soul whose energy has brightened our lives for as long as we can remember. But today, we share a different chapter in her journey—a chapter marked by strength, pain, hope, and the unwavering support of the community that surrounds her.

Sara’s battle began in February 2025 when she started experiencing severe digestive issues and debilitating pain. What began as a series of uncomfortable symptoms quickly escalated, leading to multiple hospitalizations and countless tests. For months, Sara sought answers, seeing various specialists and enduring the frustration of being misdiagnosed. Doctors dismissed her concerns, leaving her with no answers and, most importantly, no relief from the pain that was consuming her.

As Sara’s condition worsened, she knew she couldn’t wait any longer for a diagnosis. During a road trip, the pain became so unbearable that Sara was forced to check herself into a hospital in Pittsburgh. It was there, after a series of tests, that a CT scan revealed the truth: a 6 cm tumor in her colon that had been obstructing her digestive tract. The news was devastating, but it also marked the beginning of a new chapter in Sara’s fight—a chapter filled with both fear and hope.

On September 14th, 2025, Sara underwent emergency surgery to remove the tumor. The operation was complex, but the doctors were able to successfully remove the mass. After the surgery, Sara spent two weeks in recovery, taking each day one step at a time. It was a difficult time for Sara, but her incredible resilience and optimism shone through. Despite the physical pain and the emotional toll, Sara kept her spirit alive, clinging to the hope that recovery was within reach.

Sara’s journey didn’t end with the surgery. On October 22nd, 2025, she will begin a six-month course of chemotherapy at Massachusetts General Hospital. This next phase of her treatment is critical, and although Sara is hopeful, it is also a time of great uncertainty. After chemotherapy, she will enter a yearlong clinical trial designed to closely monitor her for any signs of cancer recurrence. It is a long and challenging road ahead, but Sara faces it with the same strength and determination that has defined her life.

Although Sara is healing well from her surgery, this journey presents significant financial challenges. As a self-employed tattoo artist and painter, Sara does not have the safety net of employer-provided disability benefits. She will be unable to work for the foreseeable future, and the costs of her treatment, medications, and general living expenses are mounting quickly. This is why we have come together to create this fundraiser—not only to help alleviate some of the financial burden but also to offer Sara the support she needs to focus on her healing.

The love and support that Sara has already received from her community have been nothing short of inspiring. It has been a reminder of how powerful a community can be when it comes together in times of need. But this battle is not just about financial help; it’s about emotional, spiritual, and energetic support as well. The messages of love, the prayers, the healing thoughts—these intangible contributions have been just as vital as the financial support in giving Sara the strength to keep going.

Sara has always been a fierce advocate for the power of human connection, and throughout this difficult journey, she has never wavered in her belief that the energy we share with one another can heal. Whether it’s through a phone call, a kind message, or simply holding her in your thoughts, Sara feels the love, and it is making a difference. It’s clear that this is not just a battle against cancer, but a battle of love, hope, and the strength of community.

In the face of everything Sara is going through, she remains incredibly grateful. She has expressed time and time again how much the support from friends, family, and even strangers has meant to her. It is this support, this reminder that she is not alone, that fuels her optimism and her fight. Sara’s journey is far from over, but with the help of all of you—her community, her family, and her friends—she knows that she is not walking this path alone.

We ask that you continue to share Sara’s story, keep her in your thoughts, and contribute in any way you can. Every donation, no matter how small, brings Sara one step closer to healing, and every kind word, prayer, or thought helps to lift her spirits during the tough days ahead.

Thank you for being here, for showing up in ways both big and small, and for helping Sara through this difficult time. Together, we will support her as she faces this challenge with the courage, strength, and love that we know so well. With your help, Sara will emerge from this battle not just as a survivor, but as a beacon of hope for all of us.

Let’s continue to surround Sara with the love and support she deserves, as she embarks on the next phase of her recovery and healing. You are all part of her journey, and your presence means more than words can say.

With deepest gratitude,
Sara’s Family and Friends
